Friday October 10th at 7pm
Fusatsu Ceremony at Great Vow Zen Monastery

Fusatsu is a Zen Buddhist ceremony of atonement and ethical commitment. The ceremony begins with an acknowledgement for each person's unskillful actions and and followed by taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.  The ceremony also includes agreeing to the precepts of ethical living.

Kotetsu and Daimei will take time privately before the wedding to acknowledge to one another any unskillful actions they may have engaged in, and make a commitment to continue forward from this ethical foundation.  This way they can begin their marriage from a strong and clean place.

You're welcome to come and see the monastery where they met, and participate in (or witness) the Fusatsu ceremony with Kotetsu and Daimei.

Saturday October 11th at 7pm
Wedding Ceremony at LanSu Garden followed by Reception

Please plan to arrive at LanSu at 6:30pm as the ceremony will begin at 7pm.  We recommend wearing layers and comfortable shoes, as the events will mostly be outside.

Following the ceremony there will be an exciting performance of Chinese Lion Dancers, and then a reception with vegetarian hors d'oevres and lots of tea and refreshing drinks.

Kotetsu and Daimei are encouraging musically inclined folks to bring their instruments, as there will be time for folks to gather, play music and dance together.

Sunday October 12th at 10am
Informal Breakfast and Pumpkin Patch Trip (meet at Voodoo Donuts)

Kotetsu and Daimei have a tradition of walking the corn "maize" every year at the Pumpkin patch.  Guests who would like to come along are welcome to see what the fun is all about.

We will meet at 10am at Voodoo Donuts at 22 SW 3rd Ave, where folks can buy a donut (there are vegan donuts available too) and grab a cup of coffee.  Thus fortified we will set off for the Pumpkin Patch at Sauvie's Island.  While there we will walk the corn maize ($7 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors), take the hay ride into the field to pick our pumkins this year, and chow down on some amazingly fresh corn on the cob.  To check out more about the Pumkin Patch, click here.   Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and consider bringing cloth grocery bags if you plan on purchasing a pumpkin or something from the on-site farmer's market.

We will try and find a ride to the patch for everyone who needs it, but it's helpful to let us know in advance.
